Top Places to Eat Out in North Norfolk

We are obsessed with good food, eating out and shopping locally in North Norfolk and enjoying all that a local community has to offer. Nothing erks me more than going somewhere and being let down on the quality of the food, service or atmosphere. Here's a wide selection of great places to eat and shop for terrific local produce. They are only suggestions and we would love your feedback. In no particular order, but we like them all, from our local pub The Ship Inn  in Mundesley to gastro experiences like The Gunton & Suffield Arms.

Highly recommended in the local area (short drive away)

Gunton Arms: theguntonarms.co.uk
Our favourite gastro place, amazing food, art, atmosphere. 5 stars from us!

The Suffield Arms - Gunton Station

Second pub from the Gunton team, we love it for tapas, cocktail bar and cool vibe, 4 miles from us.

The Shambles Cafe / Bistro - a local fav of ours and a must visit whilst you are here

Vernon Arms: vernonarms.com , Southrepps
Good local pub food, great reviews, need I say more!

The White Horse, Neatishead - lovely pub just a short drive towards The Broads

The Ingham Swan gastro pub, Ingham

The Ship Inn, Mundesley is a great local but the Vernon Arms is an old favourite of ours. It has that pleasant mix of traditional pub feel, log fire, warm colours, locals, not messed about with feel and a good menu. Ok, not noted for its gastro food, but equally you can enjoy a good meal using local produce if you look at the menu carefully. It's popular so do book. Also great for a pint and a game of pool. If you fancy the long walk, take the quiet roads via Gimingham, out of Meadow House turn right and take next left before you get to the garage and Tesco express. Ok, I might be biased here but I simply love these gastro pub just 4-6 miles away. Both are owned by a London art dealer and it's on a deer park, so what's not to like! Stunning interior, quirky art, great food, it's pricey but not stupid and you get what you pay for. You must book it's really popular and they have rooms, so it's always busy. It's for that special treat, more than just for a pint, but that's ok to after a long walk. Tel 01263 832010 Thorpe Market, Norwich, Norfolk NR11 8TZ

Our local pub offering good pub food and has a cool 'The Catch' fish and chip shop. Great location in front of the beach and features a slipway straight onto the beach. Located between Meadow and Admiral House, closer to Admiral.

The second pub for famous art dealer Ivor Braka of the Gunton Arms fame, its set to be the 'go to' pub after a 1M refurb.  Expect a cool & quirky interior, great wine and beers and tapas, amazing cocktail bar, plus a fantastic  walled garden.

Shambles Cafe Bar Bistro is a fantastic family run coffee house and restaurant. Situated in the heart of North Walsham and serves locally sourced, fresh cooked food, with a Mediterranean / Middle Eastern twist.  https://www.shamblescafenorfolk.co.uk

Don't forget to check out the antique centre and Timeline Antiques in North Walsham.

This is my favourite drive to pub, as it's about 15 miles away, but wow what a drive. Take the A148 past Cromer to Holt and then drop down to the coast road (A149) in Sheringham towards Blakeney, you will pass it in Salthouse. Work up an appetite by walking around Blakeney or around Cley. But enough said, great location, stunning view, great food, lovely interior, good service. Salthouse | Norfolk | NR25 7XA | 01263 740467  Website

Fantastic fish restaurant run by a husband and wife team. Fresh Weybourne crabs and lobsters straight from the sea onto your plate.

Definitely worth a visit, we advise booking.
