Stunning beaches, incredible walks, heritage coastline, National Trust properties, golf, sailing, shooting, fishing, riding, shopping, dining, exploring -  all within a short drive of Meadow House. 

Our Top 10

  1. Have a beach sauna experience Beach Box Sauna 

  2. Take a picnic to the seaside and build sand castles, or make a beach fire Paella in the evening.

  3. Build a den and enjoy the new woodland attraction at Bewilderwood

  4. Visit a historical House: Blickling (closest), Sandringham, Holkham Hall, , Felbrigg, Mannington Hall.

  5. Have a lazy walk around Holt antique shops and craft yards and have a coffee in Byfords or lunch at the Kings Head – nice shopping!

  6. Take the Steam Railway from Sheringham to Holt and horse and cart to the Holt town centre.

  7. Drive the coast road from Mundesley to Burnham Market, have fish and chips on Wells Quay. Visit Wells beach or Holkham Beach (famous) – a long day, but fantastic.

  8. Walk out to Holkham Sands (see Holkham), opposite the hall entrance, have lunch in The Victoria, see the Hall Park and see Lord Nelson’s (Navel Hero, Battle of Trafalgar) birthplace at Burnham Thorpe.

  9. Go fishing of Cromer Pier (see the lifeboat), have a 99 ice cream and finish with fish and chips from Mary Jane’s fish shop.

  10. Paint a mug of your stay at Sticky Earth café in Cromer

  11. Visit the new Henry Blog Lifeboat museum in Cromer, take home some lovely Cromer crab and lobster, cockles and prawns – hmmm lovely!

  12. Have a competitive night out Bowling in Aylsham - Strikers

  13. Play some pool and have dinner at the Vernon Arms in Southrepp (Simon’s favourite)

  14. Sit in the garden at Meadow House and read a good book!

  15. If raining, take the kids to Trimingham swimming or Sheringham (Splash wave pool), catch a movie at Cromer regal cinema or a museum.

  16. Visit the Lighthouse at Happisburgh (4 miles) – the village falling into the sea! Check opening times.

  • The Gunton Arms - my favourite, stunning shooting lodge turned gastro pub on a deer park, just 5 miles from Meadow - website

  • The Suffield Arms - little brother to The Gunton, amazing cocktail bar (upstairs) Tapas style food

  • The Vernon Arms - 3 miles inland, we consider this our local, food is ok / good and atmosphere warm and friendly - website 

  • The Dun Cow - well worth the coastal drive to Salthouse to enjoy the panoramic views and excellent food at this great pub - website 

  • Kings Head, Lethringsett (near Holt)website 

  • Three Pigs, Edgefield

  • Scaracens Head - Lost in Norfolk, bit old school but pleasant  website 

  • Morston Hall - One Michelin Star, worth two in my opinion, work up an appetite by walking at Blakeney or Morston - website
